…for hydrogen-alpha infrared. This mod will give it about 3.5 times the sensitivity to the glow of emission nebulas, and so enhance my ability to shoot astro photos.

This is almost all good, except I’ll have to watch my white balance a little closer, as the red channel of the camera is going to be very hot by comparison to the stock, unmodified body.

Well, that, and I don’t have a camera right now other than an old Olympus E20, which frankly eats batteries and is your basic junker compared to my now traveling Canon 50D.

And of course, as soon as the camera left in the rough, calloused hands of the UPS person, the local forecast changed to clear, so I’m going to miss at least one night of good shooting. Also, the turn around time is supposed to be about two weeks, which will put me into bright moonlight starting at 11pm, just to drive me completely nuts and make using the modded camera many times more difficult.

Yeah, I know no one cares. But I thought I’d blog about it. It’s not like I could be out taking pictures, after all.
