So the indicators for an aurora were sort of nudging the "you should go out" level, and after missing a great aurora just a few days ago, I was determined not to do it again. Out I went, and sure enough, waaaaay off in the distance to the north, there was a vague green glow. But... Suddenly, off to the east, there was a bright flare of light; I turned, waited, and again. This time I saw what it was, a big storm off in the distance, so I set up in that direction, and began a series of longish exposures, eventually catching about six really spectacular events. This one is the only one that shows that little "eyebrow" over the main cloud; I don't know what that is, but hey, there it is. This was my first opportunity to capture a distant night storm picture, and I'm just pleased as heck to have caught this particular image, even if I don't know what that thing is. #lightning #rare #clouds #storm EXIF:
