That's my Optibeam OBW10-5, pointed about 30 east of true north, feeling out signals from Europe over the north polar regions. This antenna is designed to receive and transmit on five bands (20, 17, 15, 12 and 10 meters), with two active elements on each band. Elevation is 30', and I turn it with a Yaesu rotor. SWR is almost flat across all bands. The mount is a 24' 6"x6" with two platforms; one for the rotor (out of view here) and one for a thrust bearing, which you can see at the top of the 6"x6". The 6"x6" is sunk 4' into the ground and embedded in a significant amount of concrete, as well as serving as the NW corner of a 16'x16' deck section to which it is attached by heavy bolts. In addition, about 3' above the deck, all the corner 6"x6"'s are tied together with a sturdy railing, and then again, about 6' off the deck with a header. So the whole support assembly is quite rigid. The mast is two lengths of steel tubing, one over the other. You can see the larger diameter tube begin just above the thrust bearing. The antenna is constructed of just a few aluminum supports with the rest consisting of steel wire and various support cables. The wind load of the entire antenna assembly is about 3 square feet so far, the installation has been through one winter and one moderate, but quite long windstorm of 40 MPH with no ill effects.
