Tube Anemone — Victim's Perspective
This is the last thing an unfortunate swimmer sees after mistaking a tube anemone for something friendly. Those tentacles contain very potent stinging cells, able to incapacitate small prey immediately. This critter, through that approximately ½ inch opening, can consume an entire shrimp at one sitting, total time to swallow being about two minutes. He lives with most of his tube end under the sand and gravel, looks pretty much like a flower sitting there. The stripes are beautiful, as are the purple and yellow contrasts. EXIF:
