Water Upwells Through Ice Breach
This shot is of the Milk river west of Glasgow, Montana. The river was frozen across the entire surface, and then the volume of water in the river became more than could be contained beneath the ice cover. That, combined with a weak spot in the ice, breached the ice cover and the water flowed up and over the icy layer, continuing downstream on top of the previously liquid-free frozen surface. EXIF:
