I shot this image with the sun directly behind Deb's head; that red is pretty close to her hair color. If you look above the sunglasses, you can see the top of an octagonal flare that covers most of her face. There are some minor flares as well. I used levels to drop the face detail into an almost sliced, binary state, while leaving the bright end of the image alone. That accounts for the OOF traffic light at the left, etc. The bluish-purple bar at the bottom right is our western porch railing. We were having dinner out there at the time I took the shot, and she was just resting in the late sunlight on her back with her eyes closed — this is a candid, not a posed shot. EXIF:
