Ship Case
I made this custom case for my 1:1250 scale ship models. They're too delicate to be out in the real world, but I didn't want to hide them back on big shelves, nor get them dusty, either. So I made this. It provides 18 linear feet of display shelving for my ships within an 11"x11"x2' volume, so it sits neatly just about anywhere I decide to put it. Materials:
I just took the 1"x12"x8' and the 1"x8"x8' and cut them into 2-foot lengths, going 1" smaller in depth for each piece, screwed them together at 1" offsets making sure the backs were flush, with the 2"x2"x2' on top, painted them (well, Deb painted them... I don't enjoy painting... the smell puts me off) and drilled and screwed the Plexiglas to them. It was an easy project. And now my ships are safe from Cthulu. I mean... our cats. Yeah. That's it. Yes, the sailing ship on top of the case is out of scale. But it was so damned cute... EXIF:
