U.S.S. Wasp ca. 1942 (Neptune NE 1312)
This is a 1:1250 scale model aircraft carrier, CV 7, the USS Wasp (Neptun NE 1312), as she appeared in 1942. Part of my 1250 scale model ship collection. 741 feet from stem to stern in reality, the model is only 7.1 inches long. She was commissioned in 1940. The USS Wasp was torpedoed by the Japanese submarine I 19 on September 15th, 1942. She was abandoned, and the USS Lansdowne, DD 486, finished the job of sinking her to prevent any use being made of her remains by the enemy. EXIF:
