Kawasaki KZ-1000 LTD
| I rode this bike for years when I lived in Florida. A great bike; I miss it. Story time: An old, mostly-blind idiot drove out in front of me through a red light one day on Commercial boulevard in Fort Lauderdale, and that was the end of the bike. I went over the car, the bike went right into the back seat, and this old fossil drove off — no kidding — with my bike. Luckily for me, there was a cop at the intersection; he skids to a stop where I am (on the ground, looking for my glasses) asked me if I was OK, and when I said I thought so (I wasn't, it turned out), he took off after the old guy, stopped him about five blocks away, and issued him a raft of tickets. He lost his license, paid for my broken toe and shin, and my insurance got me a used, but satisfactory, black KZ-1000LTD to replace this one. Which in turn was eventually stolen. Ah, life in South Florida. The lesson is never trust a driver with white (or no) hair. Just assume they can't see you and have no reaction time worth counting on. If you're wrong, no harm done; if you're right, they might as well have your photo taped to their dashboard with a note that says "terminate with extreme prejudice."
