Here's an oldie but a "rare-as-hen's-teeth" goodie. I found this unit on EBay in fairly beat-up condition. It was a 1-off prototype as far as I have been able to determine, that Marantz never put into production. I restored it, played with it a little bit over several years, and finally succumbed to one of those offers that just could not be refused. As a Marantz collector, it was worth quite a bit to me, but... it was worth more to the other fellow. 😊 This was meant to be a 2-track / 2-track unit, reversible, but the Marantz people modded it with a 4-track head and added a "Pianocorder" interface to the back panel. Weird what happens to prototypes. It still had the four-track wiring when I got it, but you could use it as a 2-track, no problem. The fidelity was outstanding, especially at the higher speeds. I think I took the original with my Olympus E-20, but to be honest, I'm not sure and the EXIF data has been lost in the interim. I prodded the image a little bit with Aperture prior to uploading it here.
