Orion, Flame, Horsehead and a Comet!
This was a neat surprise. If I'd known what I was shooting, I'd have taken more shots to drop the noise down further. A comet, no less. This comet is 217P/Linear. Canon EOS 50D, hooded Canon EF 200 mm ƒ/2.8L USM II prime [φ72 mm] @ ƒ/5.6, ISO 3200, 3 minutes x 9 frames using Satechi timer with the 50D's "bulb" mode, stacked in WinImages, levels and RAW to JPEG conversion in Aperture, tracking with Astrotrac. I used the two central stars in the Orion nebula, in liveview, to obtain critical focus. Once framed, I shot the long exposures. This image is the full resolution frame as a stacked 50D result.
