Here's the result of 5 shots at 200 mm, ISO 6400, ƒ/2.8, 1 second each from the Canon 50D. I shot these from a standard tripod, obtaining focus by setting the AF on the 1/4 moon, then switching to manual. I imported RAW via Apple's system utility "Image Capture", converted to DNG with free Adobe's DNG Converter, then pushed the black level to zero in Aperture. From there, I clipped and exported the portion of each frame that contained the clusters. I stacked the 5 frames in WinImages, then pushed the background down to black. Finally I applied WinImages astro chromatic aberration removal tool, and the above is the result.
