This is output from the MidJourney ML image synthesis engine. The prompt was "Charles Darwin as Pirate painted by Vincent Van Gogh." I presume the ship there is the Beagle, although it could simply be generated as a result of the term "pirate." There are obvious elements of Van Gogh's painting "Starry Night" in the output. I find the output fascinating. Highly derivative, as is pretty much the bottom line with all ML technology, but that's something we do as well, so... I'm fine with it.
