Tiny Garnets at 60x Magnification
This is a composite of two shots. When you're at high magnification, depth of field is very, very limited. With the garnet in the foreground in focus, the one at the left was merely a blur. So I took two shots, one with each crystal in focus, and then used WinImages to composite the two. From my personal collection. Both original images were taken with Digital Blue's QX5 USB Computer Microscope at 60x magnification, using miXscope, an OSX client that supports the QX5. Note that the QX5, out of the box, is Windows-only.
